“You need to little one. You are in danger out in the open. Tell me where I can find your parents? I would like to speak with them. Are those yours?” Etana had noticed the men that followed the girl and wanted to make sure that she was indeed safe.

“They are. My parents hired four of them. The other two are at home and will be here after school, so I am fine for now. Thank you. You can’t find my parents unless you go to Ireland. They left either last night or this morning.” The girl informed her and then Etana remembered the rumors about the Sect in Ireland. Her King talked of it often, but he always sounded jealous of the Sect there.

“Rumors are true then or they are trying to follow them. Tell me where you live I would like to make sure there are none around you or following you.” Etana demanded. As soon as the words were out of her mouth a shill beeping noise went off on both of the men following the girl. Etana knew then something bad was happening at the girl’s home. This was her chance to get some more of those worthless bastards.

Etana pushed forward and grabbed one of the men, “Tell me the address now and keep the girl here, the danger they hired you for is at the house and she is safer here. NOW!” she screamed the last part.

The man mumbled the address and then pointed her in the direction and told her it was about a thirty minute drive. Etana ran as fast as she could in the direction the man had pointed. She found the house and felt the men inside. She watched the house for a moment for any movement. As she was watching a car approached and three more of the men went inside the house.

Etana crept around the back of the house and listened to the men talk. They were waiting for the girl to come home and two of the men told the new three that they had killed everyone in the house. She could hear them going through cupboards and then she heard chairs scraping the floor. Etana thought that these men must be sitting around eating and were waiting for the girl to come home. That was not going to happen in Etana’s mind. She would help this young girl.

Etana walked to the back door and opened it. She heard the men stand, but only one came to see. He stood in the hall and looked at her. He took a long look and then fear shown in his eyes. He went to reach for his pistol that was strapped to his hip as he reached Etana threw a knife at his chest. She heard another man coming to catch the first and she threw another knife, but it missed.

The man ducked back into the room he came from and told his men she was not the other girl and that she had killed a man named Scott. She heard them start to move and so she moved into the doorway and just started tossing her knives out. None of them met their mark, but one managed to get one of the men in the leg. As one man fell he knocked a table over and the next thing she saw was fire. It scared her into shock for a moment as the memories came flooding back in her mind. A bullet hit right next to her head in the frame of the door a brought her out of the past. She ducked and ran into another room.

There she saw a man that was dressed similar to the men that were with the girl and grabbed his gun. She ran through a series of rooms until she came to a wall. She felt the men getting closer so she ran to her left and it brought her to a series of windows. She smashed one of them out and jumped out into the front yard. She threw out her senses and felt the pull of the girl coming down the street.

She knew right then that the girl could not come back to the house. Everyone she loved was dead inside and she did not want her to witness the horror of it. Etana could tell from the inside of the house that the girl lived a full life and did not know the truth of their world. The men were reaching the window and she grabbed the first one out and threw him across the yard. The other three barreled through the window, the last was the one with the knife in his leg.

Etana let the three men surround her. The pull of the young girl was now very close and Etana glanced in her direction. Etana punched out at the man in front of her while kicking behind her at the man that was there. She grabbed the third man into her and yanked the knife out of his leg and then into his throat. He crumpled to the floor as shots were fired. Etana glanced back at the girl and saw that the man she had thrown was shooting at the girl. Her man went down and the other pushed the girl back. The girl was as white as a ghost and then the storm started. Lightning hit the man that had been shooting at her and the girl ran to the water.

Etana was stunned for a moment and one of the men grabbed her from behind. She grabbed the arm and thrust her upper body forward, which cause that man to be thrown into the man in front of her. The man that was firing at the girl was now recovering and he took out the other man that was with the girl. He then turned and shot at Etana, a bullet caught her in the leg before she could throw the knife. She was stunned for only a moment before she threw the knife with accuracy catching the one shooting in the throat and taking him down. The man that had caught his brother had grabbed his gun and shot Etana again in her arm. Not her throwing arm though and grabbed her whip out.

She lashed at the remaining me. She caught one around his throat and then pulled. It snapped his neck in killing him instantly. The last man standing tried to run, but Etana had one knife left. She threw it and it logged in the man’s head. When it was all done she went to gather her knives up. Even though fire brought up all her bad memories she ran back into the house first. Most of the knives were in the eating area and she needed them. She ran as fast as she could and quickly gathered up the hot Knives. She placed them into their sleeved that were built into her vest and then ran back outside. The blood from her wounds had started to flow faster as she used her body more and more. By the time she made it outside and out of view of the house she started to fall. Before she passed out she heard sirens so she managed to pull herself a little more into the brush to cover herself and passed out.

  Chapter 11

  Finding Finley

Emery and Kendal ran to the boat with Carmine and Cara right behind them. Kaiden and Zoe had stood back and let them go. They had little Maggie to console and the map to study. There were now several other color dots on the page all over the world. They needed to make a plan. Zoe had an intuition that the first dots were the lost children, as all the other dots had two close together, there were also a few single ones. Zoe just felt that the four single dots that were originally placed the priority.

Maggie cried and cried and just kept saying help and pointing to the only orange dot on the map.

When Kendal and Emery reached the boat they jumped in. Carmine and Cara stayed on shore and watched them load the boat. Alex walked up behind them and looked at the distraught couple with confusion.

  “What’s happened?” Alex asked Carmine

“The blue dot that was on the land is now in the water and Emery and Kendal know that it is their daughter and she is in trouble.” Carmine explained with worry in his eyes. “You need to go right now Alex the orange dot has also moves to where the blue dot originally was. That is what they told me anyway.”

“Got it, thanks” Alex told him and then ran to the boat. “What we got is what we’re taking. We need to move this thing now.” Alex jumped in the boat and then looked around. No one was moving to drive the boat. “Who got the lesson to drive this?” she asked

“None of us did. Jaco went to the house before he could tell us. We were kind of waiting for him to come back and show us.” Charles answered. “What’s the rush all of a sudden?”

“Finley is in the water and the orange dot is where her blue dot was. Trouble has found her and we need to go now!” Kendal sternly said. “Here move, it can’t be that hard to drive, plus I know the location.”

It turned out that the boat driving came easy to Kendal and soon they were speeding across the water heading towards France. They were moving very fast and it took some maneuvering to get the things they had brought all situated. Once that was all taken care of they sat and waited. Halina was trying to console Emery while they sped across the water.

“I was confused last night when she said it, but now I understand. She left the house
after we told her and then she came storming back inside she had mentioned us following her. We never followed her. We stayed at the house and explained to her adoptive parents that we would be coming back to get Finley as soon as we could, we told them they could keep everything. We would give them a large sum of money to take care of the house, but that was it. I should have listened.” Emery cried

“You said she had men, she is obviously alive because her dot is still there. What did you tell her before you left her?” Halina inquired

“I told her that if anything went wrong to swim. To get to the water and swim, not to hold back and swim like her life was at stake, and now it is.” Emery said defeated and weeping.

Alex was more determined than ever to get there in time. She never wanted another to go through what she had and never wanted anyone to know the fear of another.

Emery cried while Kendal looked determined to get them there. They were making good time, but they were still far away. The boat Jaco had ordered was faster than they could swim in their Dragon form, but was still not fast enough in Kendal’s mind. His head was spinning with all kinds of possibilities on what could have happened. He had also figured out what Emery was talking about. Finley had thought that they followed her, when in fact she must have come across some half-bloods and they followed her home. He didn’t remember feeling them so they must have been very far away.

They had been traveling for about five hours when they all started to get hungry. Mary had made a ton of sandwiches and packed a couple large bags of chips. They also had bottled water and lots of little baggies of vegetables. Kendal showed Charles the direction they were heading and on the little compass he showed him were to keep the heading. Charles kept the boat at full throttle. Kendal and Emery both were fighting sleep after easting when Zach moved over to them.

“Go to sleep we will wake you when we are about an hour away. I know you are worried about Finley, but we will find her and if she is hurt Vivi and Christian will heal her. You have nothing to worry about.” Zach told them softly

“It has been a very long day and I just want to hold my little fish.” Emery whimpered

“And you will, sleep for now and we will wake you shortly. Sleep will also make this go by faster. There is a cabin below deck with a bed. Feel free to use it.” Zach tried to coax them downstairs. Emery and Kendal went willingly.

Everyone else stayed above deck and nodded off here and there. They knew the night was going to be a long one. Charles was used to pulling all nighters so this was not hard for him. Tia and John had remained quiet until they noticed everyone else was asleep.

“Hey Uncle, you think the orange dot is another Fury?” John asked Charles

“I do and I am hoping they helped this girl. I also hope that they are still there by the time we get there, which shouldn’t be long. We left about seven hours ago so maybe you guys should wake Kendal and Emery and the others.” Charles asked the two.

“Got it” Vivi said then walked below deck to wake Emery and Kendal while John woke the others.

Kendal came up to the top while Emery collected herself and washed up a bit. He also walked right over to Charles and took over the controls. Their island was small and it was now dark so they were not going to see it until they were right up on it. When Emery felt Finley’s pull she came running up to the top of the deck.

“Do you feel her too?” Emery asked Kendal hopeful.

“I do” Kendal said as he slowed the boat down. “If you all don’t mind we would like to swim to our daughter and make sure she is alright before a big light hits her.”

“I can see pretty well so I will follow you in the water, just please stay near the top.” Charles said as he took over the controls.

Kendal and Emery both dove in the water at the same time. They swam a good distance and then motioned for the others to follow. Once the boat was following they both put all their strength into their strokes and took off. Charles had to speed the boat up to keep them in view, but it wasn’t long before they all saw the tiny island.

Kendal and Emery walked up the shore as calm as they could. They could feel Finley. But she was nowhere to be seen. “Little fish?” Emery called

“MOM!” Finley came running out from behind a tree. She had been crying and was very upset. She lunged into her mother and fathers arms and cried. Huge sobs poured out of her tiny shaking body.

John had jumped out of the boat and held it by a rope as the others also got off the boat.

“Little fish are you alright? Tell us what happened.” Kendal asked as he stroked his daughter’s hair.

“I was at lunch at school and I felt a strong pull. It was a very beautiful and scary looking woman. Not scary crazy, but like I’m going to kick your ass scary. She had eyes like them.” Finley pointed at Tia, John and Charles. “Well I said hi to her and then she asked if I knew what she was. Then after a little bit Javier’s beeper starts this horrible beeping. I knew something was wrong and so did the woman. I never got her name, but she grabbed Javier and he told her where to go. She ran so fast mom. Well I couldn’t stay at school I had to leave. I made the guys drive me home and when we got close to the house I smelled smoke. I got out and ran the rest of the way. The woman she was fighting three men in the front yard. There was another man and as soon as he saw me he started to shoot at me.” Finley had done well so far, but the tears were starting to come again, and it started to rain. “He shot Javier and then Marco pushed me behind him. That woman was doing pretty well, but I took off. I did what you said mom I swam. I’m so sorry I didn’t believe you. I know you have never lied to me before, but that was O.M.G crazy mom.” Finley rolled her eyes and then seemed to really notice everyone else.

“Who are they? I feel all of them.” Finley asked

“We went to Ireland remember? There are a lot of us there and it is safer than anything we could ever do for you little fish.” Emery told her

“Well I got nothing left so why not?” Finley whimpered

“Little fish what do you mean nothing?” Kendal asked

“The house was on fire Dad. Maman and Papa both stayed home today. I know they are dead. Everyone is dead.” Finley sobbed. “That woman, we need to go get her. She saved me.” Finley looked up and into the faces of the others. The rain stopped and the sky cleared. The moon showed brighter than any of them had ever seen and Zach laughed.

“You don’t know you’re doing it do you?” He asked Finley

“Doing what?” Finley looked at him like he had a second head.

“The weather, as soon as you got determined to save that woman it stopped raining and the clouds just went away.” Christian told her. “You are very intent on saving that woman that you are ready to swim there.”

“How the hell do you know that?” Finley snapped and lightning cracked in the sky.

“See I just hit a nerve and you did that. We are special Finley. I am Christian and this is my soul mate Vivi. This here is Tia and John, they are soul mates and this is John’s Uncle Charles. These two are Zach and Halina. You see the young ones of us, the last ones born are all very special. I will tell you more once we are safe, but for now let’s go get that woman and then we will head back home.” Christian told her

“Okay.” Finley smiled and the lightning stopped.

  Chapter 12

  Saving Etana

They all boarded the boat and Kendal pushed them back into the water and then swam to the mainland. He led them to the marina that was near the home. They docked the boat and then Alex got them all ready. They other pull they felt was of a full-blood so Zach told her the block wasn’t necessary. When they arrived at the house they saw the wreckage of the fire. There was caution tape and markers of where bodies were found. No one was around and so they followed the pull.

The pull led them to some heavy brush and then Charles was pushing everyone out of the way. Zach smiled at them Tia who looked to him confused and Christian just smiled at Vivi.

  “Vi
vi, Christian I need you NOW!” Charles barked out. He came out of the brush carrying a woman. She had dried blood all over her and looked like she had been in a battle. She had knives strapped to a vest she wore and a whip was looped up and hanging on her hip. She had long flowing black hair that was currently dangling over Charles’s arm.

Vivi placed her hands on the woman. “She has been shot twice and lost a lot of blood, her pulse is very weak. Christian I am going to need you too.” Christian cam right over and they both went to work. Two bullets came out at the same time and then her wounds stitched themselves shut. Finley watched with her mouth open and was in shock at what these two were doing to this woman. The woman was also white as a sheet and as they worked color was coming back to her olive skin.

When Vivi and Christian we done healing her they carried her back to the boat well Charles did. He didn’t seem to want to let the woman go. There was nothing left of the home for Finley to go through, but she took a moment anyway and cried for the parents that raised her. When she was done she grabbed her mother and father’s hand in hers and led them back to the boat.

When they arrived back at the boat Charles was nowhere to be seen. Tia told Kendal that he had taken the woman to the bed and was staying with her. Vivi was to come and check on her every once in a while even though she had expressed to Charles that they had done everything they could for the woman. She just needed sleep now to recharge her body. Kendal took the controls and started the boat back up. They were on their way back home.

After four hours Kendal showed John how to steer and he went to sit with his sleeping daughter and mate. It wasn’t long before he was sleeping right beside them. When the sun started to show Charles came up on the deck. He informed those awake that the woman was still sleeping and they would have to remain outside the border until she could wake and swear fealty. Zach was the only one that could see the border so they had to wake him. When he saw the border he had John slow and then stopped a few feet from it.
